Florence A. Dunn,
mother of John, passed away at Hutchinson Hospital on,
May 7, 2008, at 101 years of age. She was
born Aug. 5, 1906 in Ellinwood,
the daughter of Louis and Elisa Maria Hauser Tieperman.
She belonged to the Trinity United Methodist Church.
She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter B.L.;
Hutchinson Hospital Aux.
She did volunteer work with the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary &
American
Red Cross. She was active in support of Brownie Scouts, Girl Scouts,
Cub Scouts, & activities of her children at Roosevelt and Morgan
Grade Schools. She had a lifelong interest in painting, Hutchinson
Art
Association, golf & music. She loved to travel In the U.S.A. and
Europe.
On June 25, 1932 she married Harry H. Dunn
in Hutchinson.
He died Sept. 24, 2004.
Survivors include: son, Lt. Col. (Retired)
John Galbreath Dunn & wife Sheila,
Miami, Fla.; & daughter, Mary Elise Dunn, Denver, Colo.
She is preceded in death by brothers,
George, Edwin & Ernest Tieperman;
sisters, Emma Wise, Ella Jane Gillmore, Selma Holland, Hazel Martin.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at Trinity United Methodist
Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Pat Ault-Duell and the Rev. Robert
Brooks
presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at
Elliott Mortuary,
Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum,
Hutchinson, with a private family committal service after the
funeral.

Ruth P. Crowe,
mother of Karen Baxter Hicks, passed April 30, 2008,
at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was 86.
Ruth was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Buhler, to Theodore & Martha Geortz
Heidebrecht.
She was a graduate of Buhler High School. She was employed as a
supervisor
at Hutchinson Bag factory for many years.
She was a resident of Turon for 35 years.
She was a member of Turon Community Church where she was a choir leader.
In 1941, she married Carl G. Baxter. In 1964, she married Ron Crowe.
He survives in Turon.
Survivors include: two daughters, Karon Hicks and husband Ron, Betty
Hovey & husband Jon, both of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; a son, Earl
Baxter and wife Karen of Shawnee; three step-daughters, Starla Hunt,
Atlantic City, N.J., Teresa Diamond, Turon, Tonyia Bellinda, Egg
Harbor Township, N.J.; two step-sons, Darrin Crowe, Hutchinson, Clyde
Crowe, Macon, GA.; six grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Esau and Thelma I.
Heidebrecht.
Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Turon Community
Church. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.

He died May 23, 1966.

World War II.
On March 17, 1940, he married Irma Fleming. She died Sept. 11, 2004.

Marion Sisk, 88, died March 2, 2008 at Hospice House.
She was born December 4, 1919 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the daughter of
Charles and Veda VanSchuyver Allen. A resident of Hutchinson, she
retired in
Lakewood, California, returning to Hutchinson in 1999. She was a
homemaker.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lakewood, CA and the
First Baptist Church, Hutchinson. She married Harold V. Sisk on August
7, 1938 in
Hutchinson. He died March 19, 1996.
Survivors include 2 sons Victor and wife Dianne, Lawrence and David and
wife
Kathleen, Hutchinson, 3 sisters, Dolly Kenny, Barbara Mroczkowski, and
Beverly Herman, all of California, 5 grandchildren, Lisa Crites and
Matthew Sisk, both of Hutchinson, Susan Goheen, Wichita, Lesley Sisk,
Houston, TX, and Darrin Sisk, Belvidere, Ill., and 11 great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Albert and Harold Allen.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Fairlawn Burial
Park,
Hutchinson, with Pastor Bob Albin presiding. Visitation will be held
from 1-9PM
Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson.

Harold D. Dufek, Step Father of David Wilson, passed on February 9, 2008.
He was born November 15, 1921 in
Noble County, Oklahoma, the son of Emil
Dufek & Petra Elvrum Dufek. He moved to Hutchinson in 1933 after
living in
Oklahoma and Texas. He earned his Batchelor's Degree in Accounting
in
1947 at KU. He was a World War 11 Veteran and continued to serve in
the
Army Reserves until 1974. He retired as a Colonel & received the
Legin of
Merit Award for distinguished military service. He was well known in
Hutchinson
as a businessman and civic leader.
On June 22, 1941, he married Elsie
May Jones in Hutchinson.
After World War II, they returned to Hutchinson where their five
children were
born and attended school. She died March 18, 1979 after a lengthy
illness.
On October 6, 1979, he married Elizabeth (Betty) Paine Wilson, who
had
been a lifelong friend of both Harold and Elsie May. Betty and
Harold were
happily married until her death on February 1, 2003. Harold often
expressed
that, with his two marriages, he had been blessed with "60 years of
wedded bliss."
He was especially proud that his five children and Betty's three
children formed
strong family ties.
The family requests that, in lieu
of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to
Park Place Christian Church or Hazel Collier Employee Scholarship
Fund at
Wesley Towers, or a charity of the donor's choice. Contributions may
be sent

and a personal care nursing assistant with Ruby Rayl Nursing Home.
She belonged to the Community Church of the Brethren and the
National Honor Society in high school.
On March 3, 1940, she married J. LeeRoy Shuman in Hutchinson.
He died Jan. 2, 1982.
Survivors include: a son, James J., Moore, Okla.; two daughters,
Wendy Hanlon, Valley Center, and Marlee Glaser, West Middlesex, Pa.;
12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nephews &
nieces.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rocky A. Shuman, and a brother,
Marvin H. "Bud" Sewing, who died 18 minutes following her death.

Wayne A. Strawn, son of Don Strawn
Wayne A. "The Glass Man" Strawn, 45,
died Dec. 10, 2007, at Integris Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City.
He was born July 1, 1962, in Hutchinson, the son of Donald W.
and Diana J. McVey Strawn. He graduated from Trinity High School in
1980.
He was a glass technician, Safelite, Wayne's Auto Glass and then
Chapman Auto Glass. He had lived in Walton a short time, moving from
Newton.
He belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson.
On Aug. 11, 1992, he married Kimberly Ann Buck in Las Vegas. She
survives.
Other survivors include: his parents, Don W. and stepmother, Sharon,
Hutchinson,
mother, Diana J. Strawn, Hutchinson; a son, Brandon Michael Strawn,
Hutchinson;
two daughters, Kiley Ann and Kenzy Kay Strawn, of the home; two
brothers,
Michael Strawn and wife Nancy, Hutchinson, Mark Strawn and wife Rachele,
Hutchinson; a sister, Cris Dosch and husband Joey,

She married Chet Watson April 8, 1939.
Nola was retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. in Hutchinson, KS.
She was preceded in death by husband, Chet, and a son, Darrell.
Survivors include: a son, Ron & Janis Watson; grandchildren,
Molly Rainey, Tyler Watson and Mike Watson; great-grandchildren,
Drew and Greyson Rainey; and a sister, Audra Barnhardt of Eric, KS.

He
owned Yoder Grain Elevator and he produced and hosted television
programs at KTVH-TV, Hutchinson. He was a member of the American
Legion Post 86, Masonic Order Lodge #328, the Shrine Midian
Temple, BPOE Lodge #53, where he served as Past Exalted Ruler,
Lions Club,
and attended the Presbyterian Church. He served as a Captain in
the US Army during WWII. He married Rachel Young in 1937. They
divorced in 1948. He married Lucille Warren in 1950. She died in
1975. He married Zena Yeager in 1983. She died in 1996.
Survivors include 2 sons, Jim Hardy & wife Marilyn, Houston,
TX & Warren Hardy & wife Sherri, Wichita, a daughter, Jeanie
Hardy Armour & husband Tom, Hutchinson, 3 step sons, David
Blackwell, John Blackwell, & Mike Yeager, all of Larned, a
stepdaughter, Becky Yeager Peterson, Bellingham, WA, sister,
Margaret Broome, Tucson, AZ, & one granddaughter, Rachel
Hardy, Houston, TX.
He was
preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jack & George Hardy.

She was a long time resident of Hutchinson.
She moved to Topeka a few years ago to be nearer to family.

Rachel Kramer 1917 - 2007
Rachel Jean Kramer,
90, died May 20, 2007, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Feb. 3,
1917, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Harry Wesley and
Jean Hardcastle Young. A resident of Hutchinson all of her life,
she was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and had attended Bethany
College
and the University of Kansas. She was a medical assistant. She was
instrumental
in organizing Meals on Wheels and Friendship Meals, both in Hutchinson.
She was a member of
Grace Episcopal Church,
where she was active in the choir and the Altar Guild.
On March 4, 1967, she
married Mel Kramer in Hutchinson.
He died Sept. 2, 2001.
Survivors include:
one son, Jim Hardy and wife, Marilyn, Houston, Texas;
one daughter, Jeanie Armour and husband, Tom, Hutchinson;
and one granddaughter, Rachel Hardy, Houston, Texas.
Tom Kramer was a Step Son.
She was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Joe Young, in 2000.
Memorial services
will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church,
Hutchinson, with Father Michael Milliken presiding. Cremation has taken
place.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rachel's
residence.

William P. "Bill" Owens, 98, Father of Carolee Owens- Mueller,
died Feb. 12, 2007, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born Aug. 15, 1908, in
Emporia,
the son of Owen Thomas and Elizabeth Rees Owens. In 1929,
he graduated from Emporia High School.
A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was business owner of
Owens Tractor Implement, Emporia, A & W Restaurants of McPherson
and Hutchinson, and the Red Rooster Restaurant, Hutchinson.
He retired in 1973.
He belonged to First United
Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On May 23, 1930, he married Loretta Agnes Still in Emporia.
She died September 1973. He then married Adelaide Darby.
She died September 2005.
Survivors include: two sons,
Robert and wife Patricia, Hutchinson,
and Carl, Hutchinson; a daughter, Caralee Mueller, Tucson, Ariz.;
a sister, Helen Norton; eight grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Earnest and Edward Owens.
Graveside service will be at
11 a.m. Friday in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and
Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Mark Conrad presiding.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and Thursday,
family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Elliott Mortuary,

and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by two brothers, Allen and Cecil Marshall; and
a sister,
Louise Wilkens; and a grandson.
Graveside service
will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery
and Mausoleum, Hutchinson,
with Chaplain Randall Turner presiding. Friends may
sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday
and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Casket
will be open and the family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home.
